The Art Of Cleaning Up Giant Teddy Bears

Giant teddy bear clening

Every person has a childhood favourite teddy bear. Whether it's from their birthdays, holidays or simply found in the back of an old closet, they are usually cherished for many years to come. It's hard to believe that there are still people who don't think they need to clean their giant teddy bear. It doesn't take much time or effort but it can make a big difference in the life of your bear.

Boo Bear's fur is covered in dust and you think the only solution is giving him a shower? That's incorrect. Teddy bears have to be cleaned very carefully because their fur can become damaged easily if the wrong thing is used for washing or drying it. So here are 10 tips on how to clean a giant teddy bear without damaging its fur:

1) Vacuum dirt away first before giving the bear a shower.

2) Use a soft brush to gently scrub off any dirt that was missed by your vacuum cleaner.

3) On the spot where you are going to give Teddy a bath, lay some old newspapers or an old sheet first. This is to protect the surface from water and soap.

4) Take mild detergent, fill up half of your sink with lukewarm water and mix it with the liquid soap. Then soak giant teddy bear in this mixture for 5 minutes:

5) Gently massage the fur so that the dirt is removed, then wash it away. Take your time when doing this because you don't want to damage Teddy's wonderful fur.

6) Drain the soapy water and fill up the sink with clean lukewarm water: do not use cold or hot water because this will cause the flesh parts (stuffing) to shrink or expand too much which can make them look deformed.

7) Gently squeeze out the sudsy water with your hands until all of it is drained down.

8) Fill up half of your sink or a big bowl with clean lukewarm water again and dip your Teddy in it.

9) When his fur is wetted, carefully bend Ted's limbs so that he can take the shape of your choice. This way you can sort of wipe away any residue dirt on his body and in his fur (just like what people usually do when they wash their dogs).

10) Drain all the water from Teddy just like how you did it before, then lay him flat on a towel for drying. Do not put your bear near any heat sources such as radiators or sunny windowsills otherwise he might lose some fluffiness and get dried-out skin.
